One of my favorite parts about living in Brooklyn (and there are many) is my commute to and from Manhattan every day. Now before you start thinking I'm some crazy subway-loving freak, let me qualify that statement by explaining that I have a half-hour ride to and from work, which gives me a full hour every day to read!
And yet, sometimes, that hour is not enough. Especially on the way home at night when I don't have any nagging requirements to rush off to. So from time to time, I've been known to continue reading while I walk home. (Haven't had any accidents yet, which is shocking if you know anything about my lack of coordination. Someday I'll share the story about running into a trash can while biking on the boardwalk. Or that time I walked into a taxi cab.)
But with the sun going down earlier, and with the addition of Daylight Savings Time this weekend, I've lost that extra ten minutes because it's too hard to try to read by the sparse light of street lights. Trust me, I've tried.
All this is to say, I miss the summer. And you won't hear me say that for any other reason because I am, far and away, a winter girl. (Thanksgiving? Christmas? Snow? You can't go wrong.)
So tell me: when and where do you read? Do you have a set time in your day or do you have to make time when you're supposed to be doing other things (like, say, walking)?

To be honest I read any time I have a free moment, but in bed before turning off the light is my favorite. I read in the bathroom, while waiting for people, on buses, or any place where I have idle time. I take a book with me where ever I go because God forbid I be without reading material when I have a moment of pause.
Oh, yes, I agree completely--I feel naked without a book! I've even bought purses based on whether or not they'll fit a hardcover. :)
I hope you get more reading time soon, Sierra!
